The Babetta or Jawa Babetta was a series of mopeds built in Czechoslovakia and commonly marketed under the Jawa name in other countries. It had a 50cc two-stroke engine, a 1-speed or a 2-speed automatic transmission and reached 25-50 km/h (15-30 mph) depending on the model and year.

The 207 and 210 engines both employ a simple contactless electronic ignition system (the forerunner to the modern CDI ). The thyristor unit is prone to overheating, resulting in erratic or absent spark. A replacement unit can be purchased or soldered together from component parts.

What distinguishes this model is the large 19" wheels and the un-sprung back end. It was only in production for about 5 years, being replaced by the model 207. I have now "conserved" this moped - stripped, cleaned and re-built everything using all the original parts, keeping all the original finishes and the 50 years of patina.
